The 2018 edition of the OOU Freshers' Cup is underway as various teams have shown their footballing proficiency in the soccer competition since it started on 12th January 2018.
The kick match which was between Accounting and Mechanical Engineering ended in a 2-1 encounter with Accounting taking all the three points while Faculty of Education gave Micro Biology department a sounding 5-0 defeat on the second match day of the tournament.
The peak of the Round of 16 games of the tournament was an intense encounter between departments of Chemical Science and Mechanical engineering which ended on a 1-1 draw but later advanced into penalties where Chemical Science won with a goal difference.
A similar game occurred between Political Science and Microbiology but Political Science won with 6-5 on penalties. Meanwhile, the finals of the competition will be played this week between Banking and Finance and Environmental Engineering after both teams defeated their opponents, Accounting and Chemical Science respectively.
The Sport Director of the Students' Union Government, Comrade Dada Abayomi (SkyBoy) in a recent interview revealed that several rewards accrue to teams and players who performed outstandingly in the tournament.
