Last week Tuesday, 13th of February, 2018, the Mass Communication students of Olabisi Onabanjo University commemorated the World Radio Day with a rally from the department to motion ground, going to the park and then to the Vice Chancellor's office.
The event was marked in public as the Students were singing, dancing and walking all over the school premises with cardboards of designs indicating the World Radio day.
It was indeed a memorable day with the H.O.D of the Mass Communication department, Dr Dele Odunlami, accompanied with other departmental lecturers and the coordinators of the OOU 92.1FM. The HOD of the department who also doubles as the coordinator of the University Radio, while addressing students expressed delight at the activities of students to commemorate the day. "I'm extremely impressed with the turn up of the students. Seeing the poster's designs and their sportish look including their zeal to talk on air and write about their views on sport.", the coordinator said.
As part of their efforts to spread the gospel of radio day, from the park, to motion ground , to the administrative block and every nook and cranny of the institution , every passer-by could feel the presence that an event was ongoing. In his own remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde enthusiastically commended the students and the department. "I'm highly impressed with this, actually, I thought riot was going on in the school. I'm proud of the Mass Communication Students and my love for this department is so high and full of great esteem.", He said.
He further promised to set up a reliable antenna frequency for OOU 92.1fm, whereby people won't complain of inability to reach the radio frequency.
