One of the benefits of schooling is to widen, broaden and enhance our learning horizon. It's always delight when the students of this great citadel of learning affirm the reason they're being sent to school by partaking in extra circular activities that showcases their talents.
It is in this view that the OOU Literary and Debating Society of this institution has set the pace to present a mastermind programme tagged "The OOU JAW BOXING AND WRITE OUTS (OJ-BAWO 2018)".
The functions of writing and speaking cannot be overemphasized in our society as speaking serves as a means of regulating and communicating. "OJ-BAWO 2018 is an inter-faculty debate and writing competition that cuts across the four campuses of Olabisi Onabanjo University.
"The goal of the society is to promote intellectualism on our campuses. We have observed that our university lacks in intellectual and educational extra circullar activities. This is the vacuum we are trying to fill with the society and the competition" Olawale Smart, the President of the society told Campus Mirror. "It is a pleasure to announce to the students of OOU that it's high time their passion for writing and debating is appreciated." He added.
He further urged students from all nooks and crannies of the Univeristy to partake in the competition by submitting essays, poems, featured articles, columns, flash fictions etc to the official e-mail of the society - oouliteraryanddebatingsociety@gmail.com in which entries close on the 15th of April, 2018.
