A senior lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Dr Oscar Yomi Akindele has criticized the performance of Students from the Faculty of Law at a Public Speaking competition organized by the Students' Union Government in conjunction with OOU Literary and Debating Society last Thursday.
The competition which cut across 11 faculties in the University saw the Faculty of Engineering victorious with Faculty of Law coming out poor in a distant 10th position.
It was a fire for fire battle as first and second Speakers of various faculties stormed the podium to deliver the lecture to the delight of other Students who cheered them up continuously.
The programme was graced by dignitaries such as the SUG President 92/93 Set, Dr Oscar Yomi Akindele; the F.O Faculty of Science, Mrs A.O Ilusanya; SUG President, Dr Adeosun Williams; the Editor-in-chief of Campus Mirror, Mr Aina Tolulope; the President of OOU Literary and Debating Society, Mr Olawale Smart, amongst others.
"Aside that it curbs idleness, the programme is a very impressive one, the performances of the students are excellent " the F. O Faculty of science attested in an interview with Campus Mirror.
The Chief Judge of the occasion, Dr Oscar Yomi Akindele said "the public speaking programme was a good one and it'll help in producing more impressive and outstanding products."
Participants are not left out as they show their euphorism about the event. "It is something I've been craving for because it helps Students in gaining more insights and to do exploits in the governmental and political sphere" Adewale Adetomiwa, a mechanical Engineering Student averred.
However, Dr. Oscar while giving his remarks at the end of the competition, commended the Ibogun based Faculty of Engineering and recommended that the Students should move to Faculty of Law while the poor performed Law Students should move to Faculty of Engineering. He also gave out a cheque of N40,000 as reward to the winners.
