The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. O. M Oliyide has commended the Inner Temple on the success of her 2018 Temple Week.
In his speech at the occasion held on Wednesday 2nd May 2018, he declared that he was impressed by the activities of Inner Temple and it became a must for him to attend despite his busy schedule.
"There is no association in this faculty that can bring me here at this time other than inner temple. When your children are doing well, you will be impressed. Their level of commitment despite being students is impressive", he said.
In an interview with the Lord Advocate of Inner Temple, Bunmi Arise, revealed that the Dean is not a member of the Inner Temple neither is he a member of Supreme Templer.
Arise noted that it was simply on the basis of the association's contribution to the Faculty.
He however told Campus Mirror that he was pleased with the success of the Temple Week.
"I'm happy for the success of the Legal Week. As a matter of fact, Inner temple has been actively contributing to the Faculty of Law. Dean isn't a member of Inner temple, I believed he was impressed with the activities and initiatives of the Association", he said.
The Temple Week which started on Tuesday, 1st of May with a cooking Competition and ended on the 2nd of May with a public lecture on the topic : CURBING THE MENACE OF HERDSMEN IN NIGERIA AND FUNDAMENTALISM had the presence of dignitaries which include: The Dean Faculty of Law; Lagos Police Deputy PRO DSP Aliyu Giwa, The NBA Vice Chairman, Ibadan Branch, Barrister Ademola Kareem; Mrs Odumosu Johnson (Lecturer in the department of Public Law), the SUG Chief Judge; Justice Odugbemi Michael, the SUG General Secretary among several other students.
According to DSP Aliyu Giwa who spoke to Campus Mirror after the programme, he noted that he was delighted by such topic and really felt honored to be part of the speakers. He however said that security issue is beyond Police alone as the general public also have a role to play.
Similarly, Barrister Kareem who was also one of the speakers at the public lecture described the programme as a great initiative community from Students end.
