We are back in the semester that is known for numerous social, entrepreneurial and sport activities. And In line with this path, the long awaited OOU FA Cup is set for action and it promises to be outstanding in performance and dimensional in delivery.
The Inter-faculty competition organised by the SUG Sport Committee will evolve around current and active students of the University.
While speaking with Campus Mirror, the SUG Sport Director, OnasanyaAyomide (Ayomie) assured the students populace that "the competition will be of convenience and would not affect lectures."
The N10,000 registration fee stirred mild controversies but responding, she (Ayomie) stated clearly that "it is because the match includes home and away matches and some students from other faculties in external campuses will have to travel down."
According to her, irrespective of the amount of the registration fee the rules and regulations of competition must be adhered to by teams to avoid disqualification.
The competition is slated to kick-off on 17th June with a Match between Science Vs Education and BMS Vs Agric.
In addition, the SUG Sport Director said that "the final match will be covered by Orisun TV and the highlights of the match will be displayed for entertainment later on the station."
She further commented that "the winner of the competition is going home with a golden trophy, golden medal and a customized jersey for the team, the runner up also going home with medals and jersey.
"There are several awards for grabs also which includes Most Valuable Player (MVP), Golden gloves, Man of the match and many more".
