BREAKING: SUG Postpones OOU Festival Till Further Notice

The Olabisi Onabanjo University Students' Union Government has postponed its planned OOU Festival till further notice, Campus Mirror can authoritatively report.

The festival which was earlier scheduled to hold at Mini Campus on Friday, August 9 was the grand finale event of the maiden OOU SUG Week.

Earlier, the union has held an Inter-Faculty Essay/Debate competition, Legal Summit, Legislative Summit. Unfortunately, the much anticipated 'festival' which was expected to bring several music stars to the University campus will no longer see the light of the day, a union official told Campus Mirror.

When contacted, the SUG President Akinbo Afolabi (Kempes) also confirmed the development adding that the union took the decision for security reasons.

"We just want to ensure the safety of our students", Kempes told Campus Mirror.

However, a new date for the festival is expected to be announced later.

This is not the first time a social event will be postponed or cancelled in Olabisi Onabanjo University. In 2018, a GTCre8 concert which was meant to feature popular music Artiste, 9ice was put off for 'security reasons' by the Adeosun William's led SUG. In the same vein, the highly publicised Mega Carnival was cancelled by the same SUG.
