Gunmen Abduct Two Female Students, Release them after 72hours

The two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro Campus, Ogun State, who were kidnapped on Sunday 14th, March, have regained freedom.

The students, Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola studying Forestry and Wildlife Management and Agricultural Economics respectively were abducted on their way back from a reading session about 9 pm on Sunday when the attackers stormed Igbole Aibo Quarter area of Ayetoro, in Yewa North Local Government Area of State.

It was said that the abductors reached the families the following morning demanding a sum of 50million naira as Ransom.

Consequently,the Ogun State Police Command on Monday said it launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of the female students, which led to their release. 

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, confirmed their release on Tuesday night.

Confirming the release of the students, the governor said, “This is to announce that we have secured the release of Precious Adeyemo and Abiola Oyefule – both OOU students recently kidnapped in Ayetoro.

“I appreciate the efforts of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies involved in the exercise that will now see the ladies reunited with their respective families.”

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, also confirmed the student's release.

It is, however, not clear if any ransom was paid.
