JCI Nigeria OOU Chapter hosted an impactful Leadership Summit on 28th June 2024, at the main campus, AA Hall, under the theme “The Enterprising Leader: The Accentuation of Soft Skills” drew participants eager to enhance their leadership capabilities and network with industry peers.
Opening the summit, the event hosts Floral and Olorunjulo set the stage for the day while Adetunji Tofunmi Ezekiel, President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) for the local organization also delivered his welcome speech. He said, “This event is to empower for the world to come and emphasizing the indispensable role of soft skills in effective leadership.”
The summit featured dynamic presentations, including a poignant spoken word performance by JC Goodness and Olubunmi Ashaye. A structured networking session provided participants with invaluable opportunities to forge connections and exchange insights with like-minded professionals and participants.
Among the distinguished guest speakers were Mr. Bassey Bassey, HR/ human productivity trainer, Mr. Caleb Adekunle, founder youth growve Africa, Miss Zainab Aderounmu, Lagos State Youth Ambassador, and Sen Adeyemo Adeonipekun, Executive Secretary of JCI Nigeria, each sharing their perspectives on contemporary leadership challenges and opportunities.
Sen Adeyemo Adeonipekun, Executive Secretary of JCI Nigeria, highlighted the range of leadership in his address, stressing that "leadership does not end in a room or summit; it continues. “He emphasized the relationship between leadership and followership, urging attendees to cultivate emotional intelligence and effective communication skills. Executive Vice President Ambassador Segun Omotoso reinforced the notion that "leadership is responsibility," urging aspiring leaders to continuously seek knowledge and clarity of vision.
The summit also featured a thoughtful panel discussion moderated by Ebunrere Odusanya exploring diverse facets of leadership effectiveness.
As the summit concluded, Miss Zainab Aderounmu wrapped up with the essence of an enterprising leader, proclaiming, "Every leader has to be in that dominant space," echoing sentiments shared throughout the day about the proactive role leaders must play in shaping the future.
In reflection, the Leadership Summit served as a pivotal platform for aspiring leaders to glean insights, network effectively, and commit themselves to continuous personal and professional growth. With an emphasis on soft skills and visionary leadership, participants departed inspired and equipped to make meaningful contributions in their respective fields and communities.
