To champion the integration of cultural education into academic systems, the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) Omo Ogun House of Senate, Olabisi Onabanjo University Chapter is all set to host a groundbreaking Legislative Summit, titled; “Integrating Cultural Education Into School Curricula to Promote Cultural Awareness And Appreciation", on Friday, June 07, at the Ican Building, P.S, OOU, Ago Iwoye.
This summit aims to ignite a dialogue on the significance of cultural education in fostering awareness and appreciation. In an interview with the Senate President, Sen. Adesina Samuel, (popularly known as Apostu), he said; "The purpose of the legislative summit is to bring together lawmakers, the Ogun state house of Assembly members, alongside the National Association of Ogun State students House of Senate Members OOU Chapter, to discuss issues and Challenges facing the youth of our civilized Generation to discuss important issues and also It's a platform for collaboration and a means to proffer solutions to our immediate Environmental challenges and problems".
According to Sen. Apostu, "The summit is not limited to a specific audience but welcomes all students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) to partake in the experience focused on understanding the theme of integrating cultural education into school curricula. Through insightful teachings and engaging discussions. The summit aims to shed light on the transformative power of cultural education, emphasizing its role in nurturing a society that values and celebrates its diverse heritage".
This major event being the first of its kind in the history of NAOSS-OOU also features some notable personalities on and off the Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University, such as the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Johnson Agboola, the Chief Host for the program. Prof. Y.A Oguntimehin, Dean of Faculty of Education, Hon. Engr, Joseph Fadegbesan, member House of Representatives, Ijebu North/ Ijebu East, Ogun Waterside Federal Community, Hon. Tella O. Babatunde, Ph.D, Ogun State House of Assembly Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Adeleye Joseph Ademola, popularly known as Aja Lo Leru, Commissioner IV, Trading Service Commission.
Hon. Abass Ismail Olanrewaju, popularly known as Hon. Tash, the Leader of Ijebu North Legislative Council, alongside Prince Adesina Adewale, also known as Feeling Cool, the Ogun State Government Liaison Officer, are also guests of the event. With Comr. Adeogun Feyisetan, the 35th OOU SUG President, Sen. Ogunsanya Bamidele Peter(Senator Pizzle), the 36th OOU SUG President. Also, Comrade Ogunmakinju Oluwaseun(Enzaim), the current OOU SUG President, and many more.
