AWA-IJEBU ANNOUNCES TIME, DAYS FOR ANNUAL ORO CLEANSING RITES, URGES PRECAUTIONS

The Limeri In Council, Awa Ijebu, has announced the dates for the Annual Oro Cleansing Rites, scheduled to take place from Monday, October 21st to Thursday, November 7, 2024.

This notice was disseminated to the Students’ community, via the SUG’s official X page, today, October 22.

The notice reads: “This is to inform all residents of Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State that the Annual Oro Cleansing Rites for 2024 is scheduled to take place from Monday 21st October to Thursday, 7th November, 2024; the time is 12:00am to 5:00am each day.

“The rites would be observed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for 3 weeks consecutively in phases; it would be performed by the Oro worshippers only. Non-Oro worshipers are forbidden from participating.

“As a follow-up to the previous notice given in July this year for the owners of domestic animals to cage their animals, such owners are implored to ranch their animals with a view to ensuring a clean environment. The ban on the rearing of animals within the township of Awa-Ijebu is still subsisting.

“In order for the Annual festival to achieve its main objective, all indigene and non-indigene are expected to comply with the rules guiding the festival.”
