OOU Management Showers Encomium On Former Dean of Arts, As They Mourn His Demise

The goal they say isn’t to live forever; but to create something that will live forever. This is exactly what can be said to the Late Professor Samuel Ade-Ali of the Department of Philosophy, Olabisi Onabanjo University; whose sudden death on Tuesday 11th June threw the entire University Community into mourning.

In a commemoration Service held in honor of the erudite Professor at the OGD Hall on Thursday 13th June, 2019, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde communicated that the late Professor Ali was a seasoned administrator per excellence, a sound scholar, a truthful and straightforward individual, a God fearing man and above all, a good family man.

The Service which had in attendance principal officers of the University, Staff, Students and as well as families of the deceased started 12 noon with the proceedings headed by the University Chaplain Committee led by Rev. Dr Abiola Ajayi.

In long section of tribute, made by stakeholders at different levels of the University; they all confirmed  the honorable and dignifying lifestyle of the Professor.

In an Interview with the Dean, Faculty of Arts, he said Prof. Ali “always made useful contribution at Faculty meetings and made his experience freely available for the progress and development of the Faculty.”

Attesting to this, the Head of Department, Dr. Jide Dasaolu said his death was a startle to the department, emphasizing that he was an upright person who is interested in building people.

Prof Samuel Adegboye Ali, until his death was a Lecturer who rose through ranks having joined the University as graduate assistant in 1987 and had in his 33years of service served in various capacities including as Head of Department, Philosophy and Dean, Faculty of Arts.
