Dr. Adekunle Hassan, an Ophthalmic Surgeon, has donated one billion Naira to Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The announcement was made during the grand finale of Olabisi Onabanjo University’s (OOU) 34th convocation ceremony, where Dr. Adekunle Olubola Hassan was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree.
The donation is aimed at enhancing the university’s facilities and supporting the development of its health programmes, particularly N500 million to establish a professorial chair in ophthalmology at the university and the construction of a specialized medical facility within the university’s School of Medicine.
Dr. Hassan, who is also the founder and Chief Medical Director of the Eye Foundation Hospital Group, in his address to the graduating students, urged them to broaden their horizons beyond academic certificates.
“Don’t limit yourselves,” he advised. “Join politics, contest for a political post, and lose. Start a business and fail. The key is to try new things and keep pushing forward.”
