OOUITES EXPRESSES CONCERNS OVER ‘FRESHER’ APPOINTMENT AS SUG SPECIAL ADVISER

After a press release from the office of the Union president on May 4, 2024, announcing the appointment of Adefioye Elizabeth Adejoke, 100lv student from the Faculty of Arts as the special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the president, students of Olabisi Onabanjo University has taken to social media to express their concerns.


The 37th union president, Comrade Ogunmakinju Oluwaseun popularly known as Enzaim, conveyed his approval for the appointment of Elizabeth as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity stating that he deems her fit and capable to effectively handle the office.


In the words of an oouite @Skidoolina_ via twitter, “First of all, how 100lv students wey never sabi how things are being done in the school go dey advise president. So you people are saying no capable person(s) from 300lvl to 500lvl can handle such work? Where is y’all constitution?”

However, the Welfare Director of the student union government, Hon. Ilori Olawale Olamilekan popularly known as Voice of OOU, in reply to a post made by @goodbadboy_xx via twitter, he said “She’s very active than most of you in 300lv or 400lv self, where are you guys yesterday when she was working at the Ebumawe 20th Coronation anniversary before her SA letter was even out….. U better work on Ur self and get something doing okay?”


According to the president of Nigeria Association of Science Students (NASS) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ojo Mercy Babatunde popularly known as O Mercy, in a reply to a twitter post made by @seyijibodu he said; “My view is simple, if appointments are based on recognition of student leadership then 100lv should never fit in. It is not even in complex, 100Lv, freshman, still learning!!! Nothing to be recognized! We expect growth only from freshmen. Maybe this is only in science.”
